This week we started designing and creating our marble runs. We used stuff like cardboard,paper,ice-block sticks and other things. We tried to include as many simple machines as we could. My group is nearly finished,we're just adding a few finishing touches.  So far we have all been enjoying  making them. We cant wait to see them when they're finished.

Assembly

This week room 5 hosted the whole school  assembly.
Their assembly was about a fashion show which showed us the correct school uniform.  Well done to everyone that makes sure they have the correct school uniform every day.
Girls: remember you must have a skirt over your leggings and your head bands should be black or the school uniform colour.
I really enjoyed watching their show, it was really funny.

The certificate winner for this week from Room 4 was Devin.  He got his award for showing great perseverance and respect over the last couple of very busy weeks, in and out of the class.

Mrs Varney also talked about the Whanau class. From our class Reuben,Te Tumu, Devin and Mason have been passing on their skills of Raranga Weaving.

Please continue to read future blogs

On Friday, Room 4 made ideas for a theme park ride, for a marble.
We had options to do it on the carpet, table or just do it on the wall. Some of us brought some stuff from home to use for our marble run.   Mr. deBuisson brought in some boxes, pipe cleaners, etc.

MANDARIN

Last week on Wednesday, Zoe our mandarin teacher showed us how to make a traditional Chinese dumpling. To make this dumpling you need bamboo leaves, sticky rice, dates and red bean paste. After it was made we all lined up waiting to try the dumpling. We had to dip it in some sugar before we ate it. It was really yum.Thank you for reading the blog. Please remember to book a time for the conference.

Last Wednesday, Zoe showed us her traditional cuisine; Zongzi.  In the photo on the upper left, shows Capri but Nevayah looks quite impressed?  She gave us a piece of the ingredients like the bamboo leaves and the string.Mostly everyone loved it, but most people were disappointed that it  was too small. But at the of the day, at least you got to try something new.

Thank you, too all the parents who gave us the magnets, newspaper and marbles.
