Yesterday on Thursday 5th of May Whaea ruth came in and taught us how to make a putiputi while Mr.dB did some testing. Before we started she went over a few rules. One of the rules were that you had to give away the first one you made. After that she gave us all 1 piece of flax and we started. We had to fold the flax and remove the front and back piece of the flax. Then we made 3 or 4 strips and started weaving. It was very hard at first but then it was easy The picture on the top is the finish look.

Function

Room 4 have been introduced to our new concept "Function".
In Week 1 we learnt that mostly everything in the room has a function, for example: Shoes have a function of protecting our feet.
Function is an activity that is natural to or the purpose of a person or thing.
Yesterday we examined things that we think have a function. We got a handful of ideas by mostly everyone.

Tug of war

In week 9 we had tug of war. We had 6 different houses competing against each other. It was  hard but it was also really fun. The hard part was when Totara and Kowhai were versing for last place. Apart from that we all had a great time. At the end we had teachers vs the winning team!
