Last week on Wednesday, Zoe our mandarin teacher showed us how to make a traditional Chinese dumpling. To make this dumpling you need bamboo leaves, sticky rice, dates and red bean paste. After it was made we all lined up waiting to try the dumpling. We had to dip it in some sugar before we ate it. It was really yum.Thank you for reading the blog. Please remember to book a time for the conference.

Last Wednesday, Zoe showed us her traditional cuisine; Zongzi.  In the photo on the upper left, shows Capri but Nevayah looks quite impressed?  She gave us a piece of the ingredients like the bamboo leaves and the string.Mostly everyone loved it, but most people were disappointed that it  was too small. But at the of the day, at least you got to try something new.

This week was a big week for Room 4 because we were hosting the whole school assembly.  Our class  decided to do our assembly based around the T.V gameshow Family Feud. If you already haven't checked it out you should watch on TV3 at 5:30 every week night. Our class put a lot of time and effort into making it and the school really enjoyed it too. If you want to watch some videos from the assembly go on Target Road School's Facebook page and there will be 2 videos you can watch.

Parents please also make sure you have booked in an appointment to see Mr deBuisson on Tuesday 21st of June for the parent-teacher-student conferences.
Please visit www.schoolinterviews.co.nz please then use the code 84rqq.
There is also a link from our school newsletter which should be finding it's way to your inbox.

This week is Road Safety Week. Everyone in New Zealand has it. This year Miss Templeton has decided to give out prizes. If you already haven't entered go on the Target Road School website and click the link which will take you straight to the competition page. You could be in to win some great prizes like a family trip to the zoo for the whole year or a my food bag pack. For all you kids and parents out there remember to SLOW DOWN,BUCKLE UP AND STAY SAFE.

This week Room 4 have been learning about      machines, in particular we have been looking about parts of a blender.
We have also been learning how to do instructional writing and procedural writing such as recipes.
The next day we made smoothies using instructional writing. We all had a taste test, and the smoothies were amazing especially with golden syrup. I hope we do this again in the future.
YUM!!! For our recipes to be written effectively, we had to
-do it in a instructional procedure
-use specific VERBS and ADVERBS
-Use short, simple sentences

Throughout this week, Room 4 has been making trade me ads. We got to pick anything on one half of the school and write about it. I wrote about a office chair. We had to add things like the age, brand, condition and measurements. We had to make our writing descriptive and persuasive. We also had to draw a picture. I really enjoyed making trade me ads.
